Phonekerchief to make you digitally inaccessible

Technology is the way we live now. It is basically the air we breathe these days, to say it more poetically. Just take cellphone for example, probably the most commonly used technological item, the tiny little thing accompanies you everywhere, during the day i tis in your pocket, during the night i tis on your bedside table. Irritating to always check if you have it on you, isn´t it? But what can you do about it? It has become a necessity, your connection to the world. Ingrid Zweifel, senior at Parsons The New School for Design, observed this aspect of today´s society, that is how technology changed the way people interact and came up with a pretty interesting an! d funny idea. The whole thing began due to her thesis project. And then there was a random encounter with a woman who just couldn´t stop talking about the blind date she has just had. "She said to me, 'He left his phone at home for me. I was, like, oh, my God, that is beautiful,'" says Zweifel. And so the key concept of her thesis was born. Zweifel began with the phrase “I left my phone at home for you” stamped on buttons. However, the final product is a kerchief with the inscription “My phone is off for you.” When you wrap your phone in this kerchief you become inaccessible, it blocks call service. So if you really want to interact with other people you can do so without disturbing sound of the cellphone ringing. The thing is with technology boom the human interaction has been diminished. "What I'm seeing is a generation that says consistently, 'I would rather text than make a telephone call.' Why? It's less risky. I can just get the informatio! n out there. I don't have to get all involved; it's more effic! ient," s aid Dr. Sherry Turkle, a psychologist, professor and director of the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self.
