Health care reform still in the Senate
by Milota Sidorova
The Senate of the United States is debating the proposal of new health care reform. These days, the insurance program has been on the plan. It’s been truth the reform was dividing lawmakers on two sides. Today, however, Democrats got relief when the Senate Finance Committee reported the proposal would save $81 billion after launching full scale program with total cost of $829 billion. That will be the final cost of insurance program – or the idea of facultative insurance for every American citizen. Saving less than 7 percent of total amount was not the key point for Republicans, strongly opposing such idea. They suggested the saving will transform into rising t! ax fees, the step that has been mentioned earlier. So it was like robbing Peter to pay Paul. The proposal is still in the Senate waiting to be passed. The program however, makes insurance more than a necessity for every American. Insurance will be eligible via employer, government or personal purchase. For those who will be deeply underline and normal insurance would be out of reach, there’s an option of governmental subsidies. Those who don’t apply for the insurance could be charged up to $750 a family. The controversy of the proposal is that it doesn’t require employers to cover their employees. It will be the greatest deal for insurance companies because it will literally get them more than 300 million of customers. And there’ve been still more than 50 million uninsured citizen in the U.S. In case there will be enough support among the lawmakers, the proposal should become actual in 2013.
