Delay of seasonal flu vaccine
by kristina leskova

The vaccination against flu is very important. But everybody knows that we have two types of vaccination. One is against swine flu and the second is against seasonal flu. The good message which was published some days ago is that it is possible to get both vaccinations just at one visit at the doctor. But this is true when we talk about adult people. More and more people want to be vaccinated against seasonal flu because people sense the risk of swine flu and many of them realized that it is easier to be vaccinated than to wait until the virus comes. Nowadays some of the American providers talk about delay of the seasonal flu vaccination. The pharmaceutical company Sanofi! Pasteur claimed that more than half of 50,5 million doses has been sent to US health providers. Other doses could come later, maybe during November. But there is no reason for panic. The vaccination already started and October is the traditional time for seasonal flu vaccination. The delay could be caused due to the fact that this year’s seasonal flu vaccine includes a strain which develops much more slowly in laboratories. But do not be afraid – everybody who has ordered the vaccine will get it. In Jefferson City Medical Group the delay of the vaccine mostly affects children younger than three years. These small patients need special vaccine – preservative free. So the people have to be patient and wait for further supplies of vaccines. Even though now is the right time for vaccination but due to delay it is not possible for all people to do it now. But the suppliers are working on it and they will supply all ordered vaccines.
