Vaccine against H1N1 virus
by kristina leskova

Swine flu known as H1N1 threatens whole world. Many people were diseased and also many of them died. But it is still not finished. Experts await that more and more people could be diseased and that is the reason why a vaccine is really needed. It is dangerous disease but another look on the problem means opportunity for pharmaceutical companies. These companies try to find the best vaccine which could be distributed into the world. And this would mean profit for them. Maybe this is not enough positive information but this vaccine would save also our lives. Novartis said that only single dose of the vaccine could protect against the virus and they showed also the results. T! hey achieved desired effects on 80 from 100 volunteers. But experts claim that this strain of flu requires two doses to achieve full immunity. Another threat is the weather which will be colder and the flu season will start. Another company Sinovac claims that their vaccine is more effective because it is needed just once. This could be a good message and if for one person is needed just one vaccine, company could save more people. But health officials still do not have full detailed information about this vaccine. Sinovac did not publish their data. But other pharmaceutical companies like Sanofi Aventis, GlaxoSmithKline or AstraZeneca´s MedImmune also work on developing vaccine against H1N1 virus. Available are also antiviral drugs like Relenza from Glaxo or Tamiflu from Roche which treat the flu. We can just hope that it will not last too long to find the best vaccine and distribute it into the world for all people who need it.
