Vaccination against swine flu
by kristina leskova

Swine flu or H1N1 is still hot topic. Last studies report that children older than ten years will need only one vaccine. But younger children will need two shots because their immune system is not as strong. Swine flu is very similar to regular winter flu and small children need also two vaccines against winter flu. This seems to be a good message. Because there was predicted that even adult people will need two vaccines. But last reports say that only one will be needed. So most of the American people will get two vaccines – one against swine flu and the other one against regular winter flu. And this is possible to get at one visit at the doctor. One vaccine you will! get into the right shoulder and the other one into the left shoulder. But there will be also people who will need four vaccines. We talk about small children who will get first seasonal flu, so they will need two vaccines against winter flu and other two against swine flu. USA ordered more swine flu vaccine – 251 million doses. Swine flu seems not to be more dangerous than regular winter flu. This winter flu kills every year about 36 000 Americans and hospitalizes about 200 000 people. But the biggest difference is that H1N1 more often sickens younger people than the older. So the children will be the highest priority, this group will have to be vaccinated as first. It is awaited that first vaccination will be brought next month.
