Study traces AIDS virus origin to 100 years ago
by Radka Konkolova
Mankind has been suffered from many various illnesses for ages. Of course humans have been still trying to fight against those diseases. There have been many of serious illnesses in history which caused even death but people had to face them and got over them. Of course there were many victims but thanks God most of illnesses that frightened people a few centuries ago disappeared or got out.
Although still new illnesses and their modifications occur and scientists have always much to do in order to do some researches and to find more information about that and of course in order to find a wonder drug to the given disease. They must explore genes and various cell and non-cell structures for many times till they find something helpful which can be used for the next research and till they really find that miracle which will be able to save lives of many humans. It is really long and hard way, but very responsible and valuable.
Scientists and researchers don’t only explore new diseases but also try to find ancestors of those known. The huge mystery and subject of research is for many years the HIV virus as well as the illness which is caused by this very virus. Yes, I am talking about AIDS, very cruel illness that attacks immune system and can be a part of human body for long years without any symptoms.
Scientists have been doing research for many years. They have found out many data and information which helped them to understand the illness and virus a bit more than before. But they predicted this illness was appeared for the first time in human body approximately 60 years ago, because before there were only two cases of it. Now they found they were wrong. This virus is among people for about 100 years longer than they predicted and they suppose it could get into human body some time between the year 1884 and 1924. You can see this interval is relatively narrow but not as much. I think very interesting is the way how they found this matter. They knew this virus came from apes, specifically from chimpanzees from Africa’s tropical forests, and also knew that it mutates very fast. Recently they have been exploring patterns of new, mutated virus and of those two original and have compared them. So now they are able to build and create their family tree and thanks to calculating scientists are able to figure out the age of this malicious virus.
The origin of this virus is not as certain but it is supposed it came into human body from chimps when people had started to butcher those apes. Later, when people started building and moving to new towns and cities this virus went with them and was spreading there very well and very fast. It went even over the sea and oceans. There are more and more people who live with it and wait for the death. Researchers, scientists and doctors hope this new exploration could help understand the disease more as well as to find some medicine against this illness and mainly matter which would kill this virus…
