FDA declares it's OK to eat tomatoes again

Probably the biggest outbreak of salmonella is slowing down, and according to U.S. government people can again eat all kind of tomatoes.
However, some of the products still have the caution on them, as for example hot peppers. Also not only the types of it, as are jalapenos and serranos, but also food that could contain them. Most people who are inclined to get salmonella are those with weak immune systems and also elderly people.
So far the outbreak has sickened abou 1,220 people and the investigators are still not sure about what caused salmonella Saintpaul. It is clear, that the tomatoes industries had big losses, too. But FDA officals believe that now, peoplec an eat all types of tomatoes, as the outbreak is most probably over.
The investors are still trying to find the source of illnes, which according to most evidence could be tomatoes from Mexico. It is the most suspected area of the Salmonella Saintpaul outburst. The biggest candidate are fresh jalapenos. However, there are some speculations how two totally different products could be infectd by the same type of salmonella. Some investigators argue that probably it could be by contaminated water in common washing station where both peppers and tomatoes went. By Dr. Robert Tauxe, who works in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention ,the main outbreak is slowing down. The CD also made some list of how the illness have continued in the past months. They found out that it began in about between of April and in the second half of June the number of people ill per day was declining. These are the most available statistcs asi it takes some time to really confirm which people are infected by a concrete type of salmonella.
