For all meat lovers

You consider yourself a real meatlover? You eat all of meat delighted and you enjoy every piece? Hm...Than maybe the result of another expensive American reserch is fit for you. Part takers were given different meat pieces, and they should immediately fill up a guestionnaire about its taste, color and so on..Some of them were told what were they eating, some of them, of course, not and the result was really really interesting.

Although some were told it is a meat, it in fact was not. But almost any real lover of meat could not recognize that is just a poor vegetarian alternative. "Participants who ate the vegetarian alternative did not rate the taste and aroma less favorably than those who ate the beef product," the researchers report in August issue of the Journal of Consumer Research.


The whole study was done to reflect that maybe the whole thing with eating meat is just another showcase to proof social power, and also to focus that it is associated with people´s cultural perceptions. Easily, this all is just a matter of mind. "Instead, what influenced taste evaluation was what they thought they had eaten and whether that food symbolized values that they personally supported."

The study was provided by University of Sydney, in charge of Michael W. Allen, University of Nashville with Richa Gupta and with Arnaut Monnier of National Engineer School for Food Industry and Management in France.

Some other studies dating back to 1990s showed that the color of orange juice influenced chat people told about its taste.

So to sum up, do not ever believe what you are told. Trust your own instincts more than to what you are blindly told. And if you think there is no way to lie you like this, just really think about it. How many times you were really sure what you are eating?
