For how long should we sleep?
by Lenka Filipova

Well, we all know how sleeping is essential and vital for us to have a good day in work or school, to perform ourselves as good as possible, and even, we all know that our appearance is influenced by the amount of sleep we take. Sure, you have heard about losing weight while sleeping! And it is not only us, but the scientists are curious to find out how much sleep we actually need. A director of a research at Scripps Clinic Sleep Center in La Jolla, Daniel Kripke, provided a deep study to find out the connection between sleep and death. He started his research in 2002, when he compared death rates of a million American adults, who were question about the average amount of sleep. This questionnaire was done in order to make some analysis of cancer prevention. And the results were startling. Well, according to the research, those ones who sleep in a range from 6.5 hours to 7.5 hours a night, they are most likely to live for the longest time. Resulting from this, people who sleep less than 6.5 hours and more than 8 hours do not live for so long.Just think of it! Due to this facts, it is really risky to sleep either too short or even too long. The analysts even reckon that morbidity has something to do with inappropriate amount of sleep. They said it is like “U-shape”. That means that either of both extremes is not healthy for us. They associated with this the illnesses like obesity, depression, diabetes, all of them in majority connected with heart disease.Honestly, there are not still any corroborated and precise pieces of information which tell us exact time to sleep. Fortunately, the research is still in its progress, thus hoping bringing us the facts we need.
