CDC: Tomatoes eyed in salmonella cases in 9 states
by Radka Konkolova

The Southern part of United States has suffered from the salmonelosis, what is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria called Salmonella. It is very unpleasant illness, probably as well as all other ones, but this one is accompanied by high fevers, diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. These troubles usually manifest themselves from one to three days after the bacteria gets into the human or animal organism. This microbe is transmitted into the body by raw and uncooked food or polluted water and it has to go through the human or animal digestive system in order to break out. This bacteria is quite resistant but not immortal and it is able to abide temperatures from 5 to 60 degrees Celsius. So this means that it will be killed quite easy when preparing meal with more than 70 degrees. Sometimes this sickness retreats without using any special treatment or medicaments, but it can be also very dangerous and cause another, maybe more serious illnesses and infections, as the ignition of gall-bladder, heart-lapel, brain membranes and others. To the most endangered group of people belong particularly children, old people and those who have got weakened immune system. This infectious disease was beheld in nine states of the US and according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention it has been caused by raw tomatoes. Investigators from CDC are doing research and trying to detect the source of this contagion. But they are still blundering in the dark, because they haven't found any connection among the infected yet. Consequently, of course they know what is the matter of the infection, but they don't know where those tomatoes have been from, so they are probably still on sale, what is dangerous. Seventeen people have had to be hospitalised and together there have been about 40 people ill . But this number maybe will rise next days. So, you can see, the prevention is very important factor in avoiding the illnesses. I think people should bear in mind the right preparation of food and meals, what means cooking with higher temperatures than 70 degrees, exhaustive cleaning fruits, vegetables, knives and another kitchen equipment before and after using and changing moisteners, which could be also possible source of the infection...
