A human flu
by Natalia Holvova

The generation of our parents and grandparents had different lives, different access to media than we do. People used to live very simple lives without thinking too much. Most of them just enjoyed every day as it was. When someone died they cried, when someone was born they were happy, when there was time to sing and celebrate, they celebrated. People used to live in harmony with nature and make use of it. Of course medicine at that time was not as developed as it is today and when some disease appeared and they didn't know how to cure it, they had to cope with dying of their relatives. But also dying was much different before. People knew that it was a part of their living. There is a beginning and there is the end as well and they used to respect that. Everyone respected that people had to go and they let them go. Nowadays we refuse even talking about it. People try to be young for their life time and they prolong their young years. They refuse to die! People in the past did not have many measures to lessen the pandemic diseases such as plague that took millions of lives in Europe, Asia and Africa. They took care of the patients as much as they could and when thir beloved passed away they dealt with it and carried on. Today we have many different diseases than just plague in the world. These are AIDS, SARS, cancer and bird flu which are keeping researchers busy and the rst of the people aware of infication possibility even if they are not directly exposed to any dangerous souranding. Situation nowadays is even harder because people tend to travel a lot what can spread pandemic rapidely. There are some predictions and worries of the United Nations, World Bank and World Health Organization including mutating the virus which causes bird flu. Some of the scientists are afraid that the virus could infect human beings much more easily in the future and spread faster than in the past. The hardest part would be dealing with the loss of our beloved because we are not ready and what more, we refuse to accept it.
